With a Press of a Button

One of my favorite examples of how technology is indeed not negative on society today was actually used in the article we read today.

This picture shows its viewers that even though we are being antisocial by being on our phones, in the past people were being just as antisocial by reading newspapers. Both phones and newspapers bring us information about what is going on in the world today, but with smartphones the audience can become a part of the news via comments, text messages, Facebook posts, etc. Even in our text book it is mentioned that technology makes the transition between audience and author simpler. (Everyone's an Author, 30-31) With the ability to communicate within seconds with just about anyone around the world at any time they want sharing art, music and ideas has never been easier or more convenient, sharing just takes one press of a send button. This is something that has helped improve society in a way that has made sharing to others easier. What do you think? Has technology improved your life or has it made it even more difficult? Do you think it has ruined your social life?

  1. I completely agree with what you are saying. Technology can occasionally make someone antisocial or unaware of their surroundings, but most of the time technology only serves to bring us all closer together. Technology allows us to expand our horizons in so many different ways, and it has brought about a vast amount of great things.

  2. I feel that technology definitely has had many positives in my life. With your comment on being able to share something with one click and then that post be all over the world is pretty amazing to me. Transitioning into college has also given me a different appreciation for my phone in that it allows me to stay in close contact with my closest friends even though we are hours apart.
